4th of July Family Activities

by Vanessa Myers

BBQ, burgers, hot dogs, watermelon, music, swimming, flags, parades, sparklers, fireworks….all things you associate with the American holiday known as the 4th of July. But maybe you’re looking for something different this year. Maybe you are wanting some fun 4th of July family activities that add in your faith in God.

Family Faith Fun on the 4th is a resource created for families to incorporate faith into their 4th of July celebration. This resource contains 4 components: Family Faith, Family Crafts, Family Activities, and Family Food. Each of these components has 3 activities that go with it. And all of these activities make for fun 4th of July outdoor activities, too!

Family Faith includes a family devotion based on Luke 4:14-22, as well as activities to help them practice using their Bible!

Family Crafts includes 3 hands-on crafts for your children! One is a science experiment and is fun to watch!

Family Activities are fun events that you can do together as a family. One of those events is a 4th of July Scavenger Hunt. Families will take the list and search their home and their town for those items. And to make it more fun they can divide into teams and make it a fun family competition!

Family Food includes 3 yummy dessert recipes….one of which is my favorite recipe for homemade ice cream!

**All subscribers to my blog will get a FREE copy of the Scavenger Hunt. If you’re not already a subscriber, just enter your email address in the blue box that’s located right underneath the slides on the homepage. Check your email (check spam as it will probably go there) for an email from me asking you to confirm your subscription. Once you’re confirmed you will be sent a “Welcome to My Blog” email (again check your spam). In that email will be a password to a page on my website and you can download this printable PLUS many others!

If you serve in Children’s Ministry, here’s how I distributed this resource to our church families…

I printed out all the printables that go along with this resource and stapled them together. I decided to include many of the supplies needed for families to do these activities, so I bought a red or blue bin/bucket from the Dollar Tree and filled it with many of the supplies needed. Things like streamers, construction paper, cardstock, and also some fun patriotic items like glow sticks, leis, and star sunglasses.

This resource gives some fun 4th of July family activities that are sure to help your church families focus on God this 4th of July!
